Will.i.am + Britney’s SCREAM AND SHOUT continues to soar high!

The second collaboration of hitmaker Will.I.Am and Global Pop Icon, Britney Spears continues to soar high as Scream & Shout topped the charts for Billboard’s initial launch of “New Dance/Electronic Songs Charts.”

As Billoard.com stated,

“Billboard expands its coverage of the growing dance scene by launching Dance/Electronic Songs, the first-ever ranking of the nation's top dance songs combining digital download sales (tracked by Nielsen SoundScan), radio airplay (monitored by Nielsen BDS) and streaming data (tracked by BDS from such services as Spotify, Muve, Slacker, Rhapsody, Rdio, MySpace, Xbox Music and Guvera) and reported club play from a select national panel of 140 club DJs.

Outside of club play data, Dance/Electronic Songs will match the methodology applied to Billboard's signature all-genre songs ranking, the Billboard Hot 100. Titles eligible for the chart will be determined based on a song's core sound and tempo, as they have been for our sales-based Dance/Electronic Digital Songs chart, which launched in 2010. Dance remixes of titles categorized as pop, rock, R&B, rap or another genre would not make a song eligible for Dance/Electronic Songs, even if the title appears on the Dance Club Songs or Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart.”

A new bite of the said smash, hit the internet airwaves as Chris Cox, a music producer and DJ, released his remix version of Will.I.Am and Britney’s epic dance track, of which I think was brilliant, that runs for 6 minutes and 7 seconds!

Check out Will.I.Am featuring Britney Spears’ Scream & Shout, the Chris Cox Remix.

Neo Noir

Every light has a shadow. Like Light, Darkness is also everywhere. It’s within you, trapped, waiting to be unleashed. That’s where your power comes in, the power to control that darkness, to maintain the balance of good and evil, to maintain the equilibrium of just and unjust. If let it loose, like a wild animal it would become, a New Black will soar.

Re-Tasting “I’m Gonna Getcha Good” by Shania Twain

Our ears also have its sense of taste, especially when it comes to music. Either it’s too sweet to handle, too sour and tangy, too bitter to savor, too salty (?) to take, or savory enough. The music of the Late 90’s to Early 2000’s is considered savory. It comes with all tastes that make it pleasingly savory for our ears to feed and for our minds to consume.

There’s no denying that I loved the music of the Late 90’s to Early 2000’s Era, where R&B, Pop, Rock, and Country dominate the music charts. I have loved the Destiny’s Child Era, the Hybrid Theory Era, Country Pop Era, and of course the Teen Pop Era. I have managed to sort some memorable tracks from these Era’s and played it when I feel I want to saunter the memory lane.

So, while I had this playlist in shuffle, Shania Twain’s unruffled voice came in and the song “I’m Gonna Getcha Good” played. Released in 2002, I can still remember the futuristic music video, with robots and stuff, which doesn’t seem to connect well with the song, but lots of childhood memories comes into my mind when I get to hear it once more.

You? What comes in to your mind when you hear this song again?

Biting DJ Pauly D's new track, "Back To Love" feat. Jay Sean

DJ Pauly D is ready to take on the music industry by storm! Like, for real?

Paul DelVecchio, publicly known as DJ Pauly D, is an American television personality and disc jockey who is best known for being a housemate on MTV's reality show Jersey Shore, releases his first track of his yet untitled album.

The track is entitled “Back To Love”, featuring the vocals of Jay Sean, the man behind the smash hits “Down” and “2012 (It Ain’t The End)”.  DJ Pauly D’s musical style would definitely give David Guetta, Calvin Harris and Zedd a run of their money, as his EDM track is good enough to be a party anthem.

Check out DJ Pauly D’s first single, “Back To Love” featuring Jay Sean.

Biting Justin Timberlake's new track, "SUIT AND TIE" feat. JayZ

JT is baaaaack! And he sure knows how to make an entrance (or re-entrance)! Justin Timberlake’s new track “Suit & Tie” featuring Jay-Z has just been released and it was awesome!

"Suit & Tie" is a song recorded by American recording artist Justin Timberlake for his upcoming third studio album “The 20/20 Experience”. It was written by Timberlake, Timbaland, Shawn Carter, Jerome "J-Roc" Harmon and James Fauntleroy.

I think it's a cool song but not cool enough as a comeback track. Maybe it'll grow on me, I don't know.

Biting Zedd’s New Video, “CLARITY”

One of my favorite EDM (Electronic Dance Music) artists just released his latest music video. He’s one of the producers of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” album, and also the upcoming LP “Artpop”, and one of the writers of Justin Bieber’s smash hit, “Beauty And The Beat”. I am talking about Zedd, of course! One I must call a genius when it comes to EDM, and my most preferred EDM artist.

His latest track, “Clarity” was released last January 11, 2013. It is his fourth single, and a follow up to his previous tracks, “Shave It”, “Spectrum”, and “Stache”. The track featured the vocals of Foxes, a musician from London and whose real name is Louisa Rose Allen. The music video features Foxes, driving in a freeway, and met an accident with some stranger, and eventually (and magically?) woke up in a mystical cave in a desert.  It also has some cameo shots or appearances of Zedd, himself.

I consider the video very attractive and every scene matches every beat and thump of the track. It was a video well made, although I expected more scenes with Zedd in it, but it’s ok.

Take a bite of Zedd’s new music video, “Clarity” featuring Foxes:

What do you think of the music video? Was it cool, or just a waste of time?

Biting Ke$ha’s New Music Video, “C’mon”

The usual signature of Ke$ha’s “party anthem” vibe is back with her latest track. "C'Mon" is a dance-pop and electropop song with bubblegum pop influences. It is her second single from her studio album “Warrior”, as follow up to her smash hit “Die Young”.

The music video was made available in Youtube on January 11, 2013. The scene started with a short skit of her, as a easy, laidback waitress who eventually quits and takes on a magical ride with a Kitty mascot, and soon joined a pack of animal mascots. The video features rainbows, and magic, which was said to be the theme of her album.

Comparing the video to her previous one, which was Illuminati-themed, her new clip captures her kinky, and bubblegum-pop side of her, and does coincide with her album’s main theme, which was said to be about “Magic”. The short skit at the beginning of the video was unnecessary, for me. It only adds up to the confusion of what the song was really all about, and this video may not stand to what it means. But on the bright side, it’s a fun video to watch.

Check out the video:

Biting One Direction’s “Kiss You” Music Video

These hot hot British boys are back to make us swoon. After countless teasers (which reminds me a lot of Britney Spears’s countless teasers before the video premiere of ‘Hold It Against Me’ last 2011), the official video for their new single “Kiss You” has been released.

Vaughan Arnell returns to the Director’s Seat for the third time for the band’s third single from their second album, “Take Me Home”. This uptempo, up-beat dance pop track was written by Kristoffer Fogelmark, Kristian Lundin, Albin Nedler, Rami Yacoub, Savan Kotecha and Carl Falk and produced by Yacoub and Falk, who produced the 1D smash hits, “What Makes You Beautiful”, “One Thing”, and “Live While Were Young”.

The video features the boys, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinsonon a video shoot with these sequences: riding a motorcycle and a car, in a jail, surfing, skiing, and all sorts of craziness. Although I was hoping for a music video that would coincide with the song’s lyrics, but it turns out that it’s not.

It’s a fun video to watch, to be honest. They have retained their taste in music videos, which is purely having fun, and that’s just basically it. This time around, I find their formula too common now since their music videos were all about having fun, without really connecting with the song’s lyrics. Comparing it to “What Makes You Beautiful”, “One Thing”, “Live While We’re Young”, and this new video of theirs, I find it mostly the same. I would still love to see the band in a uniquely made music video. Song wise, it’s a pretty cool pop track that I would love to play while driving, or strolling at the mall.

Biting Zedd’s “Clarity” Acoustic Version

One of the main reasons why I singled out Zedd’s CLARITY as my pick for 2012 Album of the Year was, of course, the tracks in it. I honestly won’t care if the songs would be about sex, but it turns out that it’s not. The songs contents are outstanding, not just the beat and the catchy hooks, but if they were to be played in acoustics, it would still sound exceptional.

Clarity” is Zedd’s latest track with Foxes, singing the vocals. It is the fourth single from the album of the same title, “Clarity”. They have performed the acoustic version recently on “Late Show with David Letterman” on CBS.

Here the acoustic version of Zedd’s latest single “Clarity” featuring Foxes:

Who Sang It Better? BLANK PAGE (Aguilera VS Sia)

A “new” song demo just leaked recently and I just can’t help blog about it. It’s a song titled “Blank Page” sung by Christina Aguilera, included in her latest album “Lotus” written by Sia and Christina Aguilera herself (according to the credits written in her album’s booklet). The leaked demo features Sia, as she belts out the entire track in a different vibe than Aguilera.

"Blank Page" was written by Christina Aguilera, Chris Braide and Sia Furler (AKA Sia), while production was handled by Braide.  It is a piano led ballad, which lasts for a duration of 4:04 while Sia’s demo lasts for 3:56. The piano-driven power ballad finds Christina (and Sia from the demo) asking forgiveness from a lover that she's hurt as she pleads for a second chance. It opens with the chords of a piano as the singer shares, "I know there's hurt/ I know there's pain/ But people change/ Lord, knows I've been no saint/ In my own way/ Regret choices I've made/ How I do I say I'm sorry?/ How do I say I'm sorry?."

On the chorus, the lyrics are hopeful that she can right any wrongs she may have committed: "Draw me a smile, and save me tonight/ I'll be your blank page waiting for you to bring me to life/ Paint me a heart, let me be your art/ I am a blank page waiting for life to start/ Let our hearts start and beat as one together/ Let our hearts start and beat as one forever.”

Although Sia’s version delivered different tune with the tracks’ first verse, the refrain and the chorus were somehow similar lyrically and rhythmically. Check out the songs below:

So whose version is better?
Although Christina Aguilera’s version was well-produced, and of course, it’s in its finished version, I felt Sia’s version more heart-warming yet haunted. It would’ve been better if they had a duet with this song.

What do you think? Who sang it better?

  • Christina Aguilera
  • Sia
